The ENP lab has state-of-the-art equipment and a motivated team of experts in molecular biology, rodent behavior, and electrophysiology of the hippocampus and cortex. In the framework of our project in the DFG Research Unit Epileptogenesis of genetic epilepsies (FOR 2715), we investigate the molecular, structural, and functional changes underlying epileptogenesis in ion channelopathies.
We invite applicants interested in studying the neural basis of learning and memory, cortical development, and the evolution of disease processes centered on ion channelopathies.
Generate and analyze electrophysiological, optogenetic, and behavioral experiments in mouse models of developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs). Candidates with exceptional computational skills will have the opportunity to shift the balance of their research towards design and analysis if desired.
Candidates should hold an M.Sc. degree or equivalent, preferably in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Students of physics, statistics, or engineering with previous experience in neuroscience are encouraged to apply.
Strong programming skills (>1 year of programming experience in, e.g., Matlab, Python, C++); experience in spectral and time series analysis; understanding linear algebra and dimensionality reduction are prerequisites.
Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required.
