Research scientist (f/m/x)
The group of Dr. Daniele Bano (DZNE, Bonn) works at the the interface between metabolism, chromatin remodeling, aging and neurodegenerative processes. One line of research investigates metabolic adaptations that can promote the longevity of animals carrying mitochondrial lesions (Piazzesi A. et al, 2022; Jackson J. et al, 2022; Gioran A. et al, 2019; Piazzesi A. et al, 2016; Gioran A. et al, 2014). In the context of neurodegeneration, they explore how gene-by-environment interactions can influence the phenotypic outcomes of pathogenic variants (manuscripts in preparation; Bertan F. et al, 2021; Wischhof L. et al, 2018; Troulinaki K. et al, 2018; Meyer K. et al, 2015). Moreover, they study signaling pathways that define cell lineage commitment and differentiation by priming mitochondrial bioenergetics in a transcription-dependent manner (Wischhof L. et al, 2022; Wischhof L. et al, 2017).
The team is actively seeking for a dynamic and science-driven Research Scientist with a passion for hands-on experimental work. The successful candidate will play an essential role in our research, since s/he will conduct experiments to complete ongoing projects and develop future studies using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and Caenorhabditis elegans models of metabolic disorders. Furthermore, the new team members will have the opportunity to improve his/her scientific knowledge and skills by performing multi-omics (RNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics) data analyses. Additionally, s/he will manage state-of-the-art equipment within the laboratory and contribute to the training of undergraduate and graduate students.
As a valuable team member, the ideal candidate has a PhD training, is fluent in both German and English languages and will be responsible of genetic engineering supervision as the only administrative task. The position represents the entry level for an employment career path as a Staff Scientist.
