Scientist (f/m/x) in Systems Medicine
Code: 1509/2025/12
Healthy aging is one of the core research interests of Systems Medicine at the DZNE. To this end, we are investigating immune diversity using multi-omics data from large human cohorts to identify molecular determinants and pathways impacting major aging trajectories. This includes amongst others transcriptome data on single-cell and bulk level, metabolome data, and targeted proteomics, which we aim to interrogate using a wide array of techniques from standard bioinformatic approaches, computational modeling to machine learning approaches including swarm learning.
For more general information, please also visit the following websites of Dr. Aschenbrenner’s group (www.dzne.de/aschenbrenner) as well as the department Systems Medicine (www.dzne.de/en/research/research-areas/systems-medicine/).
Your role in detail

They will contribute to the strategic and administrative coordination of the group’s initiatives, including organization of meetings, funding and outreach activities. In close collaboration with scientists working on experimental, computational, and clinical aspects of immune diversity, the candidate will help prepare grant applications, ethic votes, progress reports, and scientific manuscripts. There will be a strong scientific focus on immune diversity in cohort studies, stratification of cohorts based on molecular and clinical features also with respect to individual risk/outcome or therapy response prediction, precision medicine approaches, human studies, clinical contexts.
Your qualifications
- Master in life sciences, nutritional sciences, biomedical sciences, or a related field
- strong background or interest in personalized medicine, esp. in context of immunology and systems medicine
- familiarity with omics-based or data-driven research approaches (e.g., transcriptomics, metabolomics, microbiome)
- proven experience in project coordination or scientific management involving cross-disciplinary teams in a research environment
- teaching experience is a plus
- ability to work independently
- excellent organizational and communication skills, with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
