The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a globally leading, internationally oriented research institution dedicated to discovering new approaches for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Your role in detail
As IT Strategy Development Manager (f/m/d), you will support the DZNE Executive Board in the strategic and operational development of a modern, high-performance, and future-proof IT infrastructure.
You will develop a long-term IT and infrastructure strategy that balances scientific requirements, technological advancements, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory frameworks. This includes, in particular:
- IT Strategy & Infrastructure Planning: Developing target visions and roadmaps for compute, HPC, storage, network, cloud, and AI infrastructures. Translating scientific and organizational requirements into technical/operational concepts and transformation paths.
- Technology & Investment Strategy: Evaluating new technologies and infrastructure models in terms of their relevance to the DZNE. Developing business cases, cost-benefit and risk analyses, as well as decision-making frameworks for major IT investments.
- Procurement & Vendor Management: Supporting major procurement and infrastructure projects, including the evaluation of vendors and solution architectures, as well as assistance with requests for proposals and negotiations.
- Governance & Compliance: Taking IT security, data protection, and regulatory requirements into account when developing future infrastructure concepts.
- Stakeholder Management: Close collaboration with the Executive Board, scientific departments, core facilities, and DZNE sites, as well as external partners from academia, the Helmholtz Association, and industry.
Your profile for cutting edge research
- A completed university degree at the master’s level or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Computational Sciences, or a comparable technical or scientific field. A doctorate (PhD/Dr.) is preferred.
- Several years of experience in IT strategy, enterprise architecture implementation, and the management of complex IT infrastructures.
- In-depth understanding of modern IT infrastructures, particularly in several of the following areas: HPC, scientific computing, GPU/AI infrastructure, storage, high-speed networking, and cloud/hybrid cloud.
- Experience with technology roadmaps, transformation projects, business cases, and strategic investment decisions.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, as well as the ability to present complex technical issues in a decision-oriented manner to the Executive Board, management, and scientific stakeholders.
- Ideally, experience at a research institution or a technology-oriented biomedical company.
- Fluency in German and English, as well as excellent presentation and communication skills.
