The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a globally leading, internationally oriented research institution dedicated to discovering new approaches for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

Your role in detail
We are seeking a skilled Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x) in the Laboratory Automation Technologies (LAT) Facility at the DZNE in Bonn with experience in hands-on work with immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence and microscopy, high proficiency in computational image analysis and enthusiasm for contributing to the development, optimization, and standardization of spatial image analysis workflows.
- Develop, optimize, and apply quantitative spatial imaging workflows to characterize cellular and tissue phenotypes
- Execute high-quality automated IF protocols and high-plex panels on cells and tissue slices
- Systematically test and validate antibodies, and evaluate their suitability as markers for reference datasets and their value for computational image-analysis pipelines
- Design, build, and deploy robust image-analysis pipelines using modern software engineering practices
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure the efficient and timely implementation of workflow modules and tasks
- Enthusiastically engage in learning, method development, and collaborative research
Your role in cutting edge reserach
The LAT is a Core Facility, which provides expertise and technologies for lab automation and standardization within the DZNE. We are looking for individuals who can work independently, systematically develop and optimize experimental and computational workflows, and contribute to the implementation of reproducible spatial imaging analysis. You will join a preclinical neuroscience research team dedicated to developing high-quality resources for Parkinson’s disease research, embedded in a highly collaborative international research network that promotes open science, interdisciplinary collaboration, and rapid knowledge exchange.
Your profile in cutting edge research
- PhD in Biology, Neuroscience, Bioinformatics, or a related field
- Experience in immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence (IHC/IF) and related staining techniques.
- Programming experience in MATLAB or Python, Experience with both or SQL is of advantage
- Demonstrated ability to apply programming to image pre-processing, analysis and data processing
- Experience with data visualization, quantitative analysis, and appropriate statistical methods
- Strong attention to data integrity, documentation, and reproducibility
- An open-minded, collaborative, and fair approach to working in multidisciplinary and international research teams
