The research group ‘Neural Circuit Computations’ led by Jan Gründemann aims to understand how ever-changing environmental stimuli are represented and computed in the brain to elucidate key principals of multisensory integration upon memory formation. To address this question, we combine state of the art circuit neuroscience tools like opto- and pharmacogenetics with single and two-photon imaging techniques to reveal computational frameworks of sensory integration in deep brain areas and their effects on behaviour and learning in health and disease (see also:

Your tasks

Successful candidates will actively support the daily experimental work of the laboratory and will be responsible for day-to-day lab management including orders and lab-organization.


We are looking for a Research Technician or Associate with an interest in neuroscience of health and disease. The successful candidate should hold a degree as Research Technician (MTA/BTA/CTA) or equivalent and should have excellent experimental skills. The highly motivated candidate should be willing to work independently carrying out standard molecular, histological and biochemical work. Experience with animal experiments is a plus. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and very good language proficiency in English.

Team members will benefit from an international, collaborative environment alongside other labs focusing on systems neuroscience and neurodegenerative disorders, both within the institute and at neighbouring university departments. Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst - TVöD). The job location is Bonn, Germany. The position is available from October 2020 and will be initially available for two years with the opportunity to get a permanent position subsequently.
