Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x) in Experimental/Molecular Immunology
The group of Dr. Marc Beyer (DZNE Bonn site) is recruiting for a full-time postdoctoral position (39 hours per week). The position is available for an initial period of two years with possible extension. The employment is intended to start in September 2021 or upon agreement.
The main research interest of the Beyer group lies in the characterization of molecular events in adaptive and innate immune cells resulting in their activation and functional reprogramming in chronic inflammation. In the project relevant for this position, we are specifically interested in transcriptional, epigenetic and metabolic events orchestrating the programming of conventional and regulatory T cells (Treg cells). We want to combine single-cell omics with other OMICS-technologies and genetic engineering as a model for the discovery and validation of cellular heterogeneity and identify key molecular drivers of Treg cell and TH17 cell differentiation.

In this project, the successful candidate will analyze tissue from animal models as well as human patients, using a range of methodological approaches, such as single-cell RNA-sequencing, high-parameter flow cytometry, genetic engineering using CRISPR/Cas9, bioinformatics and others to determine new aspects of Treg cell and TH17 cell biology with a focus on neurodegeneration and chronic inflammation.
For this project, we are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented PostDoc, with a strong interest in immunology and very good English proficiency. German language skills are a major advantage.
The applicant should hold a PhD or MD/PhD degree in immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, molecular biology or similar topics.
The successful candidate should have prior experience either in immunobiology, molecular biology and/or high throughput sequencing techniques as well as bioinformatics.
Methodological experience in multicolor flow cytometry, transcriptomics, animal experimentation and computational biology/bioinformatics (using R or Python) is expected. Experience in single-cell omics, confocal microscopy and gene targeting is advantageous.
We expect a highly motivated and independently working candidate with a good publication track record and willingness to work in a diverse team with international scientists who is interested to participate in supervision of undergraduate and graduate students.
