Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x) in the group “Translational Protein Biochemistry”

The position focuses on "Construct Validity" in the human context. The role of the postdoctoral researcher will be the validation of the expression, signalling mechanisms and pathological alterations of disease-relevant human proteins, which have been identified as critical therapeutic targets in experimental models of neurodegenerative diseases in mice and other species (e.g., Drosophila, C. elegans and others). The translational work will provide the proof-of-concept for relevant targets and their signalling in human iPS derived cells and/or human tissues facilitating the development of R&D strategies and clinical trials

The long-term goal of the investigations will be to establish a Reference-Laboratory in the Group for “Translational Protein Biochemistry” and to contribute to the development/analysis of disease-relevant models and pathomechanisms. Transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolic mechanisms leading to human neurodegenerative diseases will be identified either in appropriate cell systems or for example in correlation with staged brain pathology (e.g., Braak staging).

  • Establishment and/or analysis of neurodegenerative disease relevant model systems
  • Management and support of the analysis of large-scale genomics and proteomics data sets
  • Interpretation of large-scale sequencing data
  • Development of user-friendly tools for data analysis and tracking of experiments
  • Interface between scientists working in the lab and informatical analysis

Requirements

  • PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise in at least two of the following areas:
    • modern molecular and biochemical methods
    • tissue imaging techniques
    • -omics data analysis and sequencing
    • Data analysis in scripting languages like R, Matlab or Python
