The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a world-leading internationally oriented research center, committed to discovering new approaches to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases. Your tasks

This work will be conducted by Prof Paolo Salomoni whose research interest is nuclear function in regulation of cell fate in normal brain and CNS disease. In particular, this project aims at studying the role of H3.3 and its chaperones in regulation of brain function and aging-associated conditions.

The successful candidate will be integrated into the neuroscience environment at DZNE and will benefit from interactions with other institutes in Bonn (e.g. LIMES) and abroad (e.g. University College London). The post is based within the recently opened DZNE Research Facilities at Bonn Venusberg.  A strong mentoring programme for career development is provided.


We are seeking an interactive and self-motivated PhD student to join a team of cell and molecular biologists working on nervous system pathophysiology led by Prof Paolo Salomoni. Previous expertise in neuroscience, cell/molecular biology and/or epigenetics would be desirable. A Master in cell/developmental biology, epigenetics or a related subject is essential. This programme of work is based on published/unpublished work from the team.
