Your role in detail

A full-time Technical Assistant (f/m/x) position is available in the Laboratory Automation Technologies (LAT) Facility at the DZNE in Bonn.

  • Optimize and execute experimental procedures focused on, but not limited to, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, and high-plex immunohistochemistry
  • Maintain structured documentation of procedures and experiments, ensuring organized and accurate data management
  • Manage daily laboratory operations, including inventory management and sample tracking
  • Coordinate consumables and reagent ordering, and support selected equipment maintenance
  • Contribute to quality control processes, reproducibility, and compliance with laboratory standards
  • Collaborate closely with team members to ensure efficient and timely experimental workflows
  • Enthusiastic to learn and contribute

Your profile in cutting edge research

We are looking for a motivated Technical Assistant (f/m/x) with strong organizational skills, a passion for cutting edge development, and a focus on standardization and reproducibility.

  • Completed training as a Technical Assistant or a comparable qualification in biology, biotechnology, or a related life sciences field
  • Demonstrated experience in mammalian cell culture, including routine maintenance of cell lines, aseptic handling, passaging, and cryopreservation under sterile conditions
  • Interest in and openness to lab automation
  • Experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and related staining techniques. High-plex IHC experience is a plus
  • Experience in validation experiments, specifically for antibodies or antibody panels, is advantageous
  • Experience in tissue handling/histopathology techniques is favourable but not required
  • Effective time management and organization in multi-step, parallel experimental procedures
  • Strong attention to data integrity and documentation skills, enabling full reproducibility
  • Teamwork in multidisciplinary and international research environments.

Your role in cutting edge research

The LAT is a Core Facility that provides expertise and technologies for lab automation and standardization within the DZNE. We are looking for individuals who can work independently within defined technical areas, perform and document routine tasks efficiently, and contribute to the optimization of experimental procedures. Your tasks will include validation of antibodies and development of panels for multiplexed spatial imaging. You will join a preclinical neuroscience research team dedicated to developing high-quality resources for Parkinson’s disease, embedded in a highly collaborative international research network that promotes open science, interdisciplinary collaboration, and rapid knowledge exchange.
