Your role in cutting edge research
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable neurodegenerative disorder that leads to death within a few years of onset. Despite advances in genetics and disease mechanisms, ALS remains incurable, with most clinical trials failing due to a lack of power and efficacy and high attrition rates. These failures reflect persistent barriers, including disease heterogeneity, reliance on preclinical models with limited predictive power and a lack of coordinated trial infrastructure and opportunities for participation. The CURE-ND4ALS consortium brings together four leading European institutes to overcome these barriers. Within that consortium, the DZNE side Rostock is looking for an enthusiastic scientist interested in working on cohort datasets (clinical, imaging, biomarkers incl. Different -omics approaches) to define the natural history and heterogeneity of ALS to enable biomarker-driven patient stratification.
